Love to Dance

by Ladynred

Our son has rhythm!  He has been dancing along with the music on dvds since he was old enough to walk.  Of course we thought it was cute the first time we noticed this (and even secretly thought to ourselves that he was the most talented baby in the world like most parents do).

Obviously, the above is not literally true.  But both my husband and I swear that he does have definite signs of real rhythm.  That would be our cue to get him involved with some kind of music training even at his age …  maybe piano, maybe violin.  I don’t know.  But I can definitely see him needing a guitar chord chart in 15 years or so.

March break

by Ladynred

Week of March break Darling daughter stays at her grandparents. Our house was kind of quite at that time. She did have a great time though doing lots of things. She went out most of the time. She went to see the Disney on ice and Grandma got her a Disney wand which she really loves. She went to see a movie called Nomeo and Juliet. Anyway she made a scrapbook for that week…her March break that is!

Read the story below to your child, pointing out the words as you read.
Read the story again and when you come to an underlined word, ask your child to read the word to you.

I like my cat. My cat is a good cat.
We like to play. Do you like cats?

Colorful Mittens

by Ladynred

Red ones, yellow ones, blue ones, too.
But the one pair of mittens that rhymes with fellow,
They’re my favorite mittens.
They’re the color yellow.
For additional verses: Replace bolded words to continue the song.
For example, But the one pair of mittens that rhymes with bed, they’re my favorite mittens. They’re the color red.

The 2-D Shape Song

by Ladynred

The 2-D Shape Song
Four straight sides ARE all THE same
All THE same, all THE same
Four straight t sides ARE all THE same
I’m A square!
Two sides short AND two sides long
Two sides short, two sides long
Two sides short AND two sides long
I’m A rectangle!
Three sides, count them, one two three
One two three , one two three
Three points, count them, one two three
I’m A triangle!
I’m as round as I can be
I can be, I can be
I have NO straight sides YOU SEE
I’m A circle!

Number Poems

by Ladynred

A straight line down, and then you’re done! That’s how you make a number one!
A rainbow, a slide, a table for you! That’s how you make a number two!
Around a tree, and around a tree. That’s how you make a number three!
Down and across, and down some more. That’s how you make a number four!
Down and around, and a board to dive. That’s how you make a number five!
A curve and a loop, there are no tricks! That’s how you make a number six!
Across the top and a slide for Devan. That’s how you make a number seven!
Make an S, then close the gate. That’s how you make a number eight!
First a circle, then a line. That’s how you make a number nine!
